Redefining financial systems at Federal Retirees

One of my most significant achievements involved a full redesign of the financial system for Federal Retirees (NAFR). This comprehensive project allowed for the categorization of expenses by nature, mandate, function, department, district, and activity/job costing. The goal was to provide granular insights essential for strategic decision-making.

During the Federal Retirees project, I created and programmed multiple income statement presentations. These customized reports provided detailed and meaningful information, empowering decision-makers with the clarity they needed to guide the organization effectively. My approach focuses on transforming raw data into actionable intelligence.

Tailored reporting for volunteers

In addition to the redesign of the national systems, I led the creation of a custom-designed, in-house bookkeeping system for use by our 77 branches across Canada.  The system was based on my design, with diverse skills and bookkeeping knowledge at the heart. I also created and conducted cross-country in-person training sessions, in addition to creating manuals, elearning system, regular webinar series, and on-going one-on-one support as requested for both Treasurer's and their Boards.

This project resulting in meaningful consolidation of branch assets and inclusion in the Association's Audited Financial Statements.

Collaborative success and  excellence

I participated in a multi-departmental project over several years to consolidate membership financial reporting, introduce credit card payment processing, and introducing third-party verification of memberships to access partner services. This extensive effort culminated in sufficient supporting evidence on revenue that the Association received an unreserved audit opinion for the first time in its history in 2019—a testament to the teams meticulous work and dedication to financial integrity by the entire team.
